WHAT ARE YOU NOTICING?
Start with what you see, smell or taste.
Pick what sounds familiar. We’ll point you to what’s worth checking.
White spots on glasses. Crust on the showerhead.
Hardness is the calcium and magnesium in your water. Those minerals are common in Florida groundwater.[14]
A sulfur smell from the tap.
Florida’s Department of Health says hydrogen sulfide can occur in wells anywhere in Florida and gives water a “rotten egg” smell.[2]
Orange or red stains in the sink and on laundry.
Iron can cause a rusty color and reddish or orange staining.[7] Iron bacteria in a well can cause red stains too.[2]
City water that tastes or smells like chlorine.
Utilities disinfect city water with chlorine or chloramine, and some switch between them during the year.[8][10] Water can taste or smell unpleasant and still be safe to drink.[7]
A boil-water notice or a flooded well?
Follow your water utility and county health department first. Florida issues boil-water notices when water pressure is lost and when flood water reaches a water supply well.[3]
Smell, taste and color don’t tell you whether water is safe to drink.[2][7] A certified lab test does.[1]

Three simple steps.
- 01
Tell us about your home.
A short request: your city, whether you’re on city water or a well, and what you’ve noticed.
- 02
We test your water at the sink.
We check things like hardness, iron, chlorine and TDS, and explain what each number means in plain words.
- 03
We talk through options.
If you’d like, we show treatment options that fit what we found. You decide. There’s no obligation to buy anything.
FLORIDA WATER, EXPLAINED
Find what fits your home.
Hard water, well water, city water and storm season each raise different questions. Start with yours.
Hard water & scale
Spots, crusty showerheads and soap that won’t lather.
Well water: sulfur & iron
A rotten-egg smell, orange stains and yearly testing.
City water: chlorine & chloramine
Taste and smell, disinfectant switches and your annual water report.
After a storm
Boil-water notices and flooded private wells.
HURRICANE SEASON
After a storm, official guidance comes first.
If your utility or county issues a boil-water notice, follow it until it’s lifted, and boil tap water even if it is filtered.[5] If your private well was flooded, the Florida Department of Health says to disinfect it and then have it tested.[4]

What happens at a water test?
First, we test a sample of your tap water at the sink and explain what the numbers mean. Then, if you’d like, we talk through treatment options that fit what we found. It is an on-the-spot test and demonstration, not a certified lab analysis. There is no obligation to buy anything.
Do you help with city water and private wells?
Yes. Tell us which one your home uses. They raise different questions: city water is disinfected by your utility, while private well owners are responsible for their own well water.[1]
